About 9 months ago, I started a test to see the effectiveness of SEO Booster PRO and a beta plugin deftly named myTwitterBooster.

The premise was much identical to all 4 blogs as possible. All were in the general niche of “health”. All 4 sites were given identical number of backlinks, their relational position on each linking page evenly varied as well.

One blog was to have just MTB (myTwitterBooster) installed, another one with just SBP (SEO Booster PRO), the third with both of them installed, leaving the fourth with nothing installed, apart from the standard plugins you would install and which they all share.

Now, I messed up. Even though it should not be possible to fail setting up such a simple test, I did.

I managed to leave two blogs completely without either of the plugins. The test is not a complete failure however, as it does prove a difference between the two setups.

Now, let’s take a look at the number of visits for these 4 sites. Remember, they were given a few basic links from established sites, automatic – yet quality – content was set up for each site. They were given no additional aid after that.

Wow, that is some difference. It’s only one website though, out of a small test group of 4, so let’s not get too excited yet.

Let’s take a look at the earnings.

Now, that is interesting. Quite a bit of difference in earnings. The test is not quite through yet, there is something else I want to test. Lets move the test to phase 2.

Phase 2

The previous phase of the test was a pretty good start for SEO Booster PRO, but how would this turn out if we were to give all 4 blogs the same plugins? All blogs are still running an old version of WordPress as well, and could do with a general tuneup of other plugins as well.

Things I will be doing for phase 2:

  • Upgrading to latest version of WordPress
  • Upgrading all plugins
  • Adding new plugins *
  • Upgrading the Thesis Theme
  • …

* Quite a few cool plugins has been released in the past 9 months.

Once completed, the goal of the test will be to see if an increase of traffic for the other three can be achieved as well through the use of SBP.

The test will not be done after this phase. There is a third phase planned after the next status, but I will leave the details a secret for now.
